Ocean One

Thomas Lorenz
2009

Ocean One aims to create an artificially generated environment that resembles the behaviour and visual qualities of a natural phenomenon, the sea. While more abstract pieces of generative art provide a literally endless repertoire of visual content, Ocean One tries to attain a narrative quality despite the self-similarity of the process based operations it relies on. By conversing with the work through simple motions in front of the image, the user can alter the states of this “artificial ocean” as well as experience an almost tangible quality by leaving traces of his movement in the fluid motion of the work.
