Pirates

Pirates is a concept game that has been created to test and showcase the functionality of multitouch environments. Up to 10 players can try to bring as many ships as possible home to their harbor by using hand gestures on a multitouch table. There is no “regular” shooting and sinking ships involved but players can use natural catastrophes such as tornados or springwaves to keep their opponents from acquiring ships. At the same time they create wind with their hands trying to send ships home.

It has been coded in Processing and makes use of the TUIO library as well as openGL. It features up to 100 ships, a particle system of up to 20.000 water bubbles that depict ship movement and a collision detection between ships, islands and particles on medium sized machines.
