Bønk is an audiovisual realtime-composition-tool, an urban sequencer, that captures visual and acoustic signs of life of the pedestrians and transforms them into rythmical acoustic patterns. Via video tracking the stone slabs in front of the ars electronica center become an interactive input device – video projectors and loudspeakers show the city an abstracted arrangement of its own dynamics. Bønk adjusts its audiovisual settings to the pedestrian´s number, movement and their speed. By this way, the pedestrians model images and sound in realtime. Variations of existing compositions and even new audiovisual compositions evolve this way – Bønk forms their aesthetic framework.
